NYC TV’s “New York Noise” to launch weekly indie music video blog

newyorknoise.pngNYC TV General Manager Arick Wierson announced that “New York Noise,” NYC TV’s hit indie music show is launching a weekly video blog, “Weekly Noise.” Each episode will feature insights about the City’s indie music scene, information on new bands, upcoming events, new venues, and more. In the same style of “New York Noise” the television show, “Weekly Noise” will feature a string of guest hosts and their playful brand of humor. The video blog will also be available for syndication across the web.

“Weekly Noise,” is NYC TV’s second video blog to launch this year and is part of the station’s larger move into the online video space. In September 2007, NYC TV introduced its online video player, NYC TV On-Demand, a cutting-edge web site offering hundreds of high-quality video clips from NYC TV’s Emmy Award-winning shows.

March of Dimes and Scrapblog launch “Every Baby Has a Story” campaign

901am.comMarch of Dimes, a national not-for-profit health agency dedicated to improving the health of babies, and Scrapblog, the first web-based service for creating and sharing multimedia scrapbooks, has teamed up to launch the ‘Every Baby Has a Story’ campaign.

It is a national grassroots project that invites moms and dads to tell their most memorable, relevant, inspiring or humorous baby stories through an online scrapbook powered by Scrapblog. Participants can easily create compilations of images, videos, audio and captions to tell a baby’s story.

Scrapbooks can then be shared with family and friends by email or on social networking sites. Those who receive an online scrapbook also can donate to the March of Dimes, which works to give every baby a healthy start in life.

In addition to the Web site, the March of Dimes ‘Every Baby Has a Story Tour’ motorcoach will be traveling to 15 cities nationwide from October 17 to November 13. Equipped with computers and Internet access, it will invite visitors to walk in and learn how they can create an ‘Every Baby Has a Story’ scrapbook of their own.

Perez Hilton in trouble again

901am.comAttorneys for Zomba Recording LLC, which owns the copyrights to Britney Spears’ recordings, filed suit in federal court in Los Angeles today charging the online gossip website PerezHilton.com and its proprietor Mario Lavandeira with illegally obtaining and posting recordings by Spears.

The suit accuses Lavandeira of infringing Zomba’s copyrights by posting at least 10 completed tracks and unfinished demos from Ms. Spears’ upcoming album, “Blackout,” over the past three months.

“Blackout” was originally scheduled to be released on Nov. 13 but because of internet leaks, Ms. Spears’ label Jive Records announced yesterday it was moving up the release date to Oct. 30.

The lawsuit does not specify the amount of monetary damages being sought but rather asks that Zomba be awarded both real and punitive damages as well as legal costs “as the Court deems just and proper.”

CBS acquires celebrity blog Dotspotter.com

It seems there is no stopping TV network CBS from its Web 2.0 shopping spree. PaidContent.org reports it has acquired Dotspotter.com, a 10-month old celebrity blog, for a hefty sum of $10 million. According to Rafat Ali:

The price seems pretty high for a sector which is saturated with more high profile celebrity blogs/sites like TMZ.com, PerezHilton, and others…and, of course, the fact that the site was only launched mid-January this year. But one source close to the situation told us the price is not for the site itself, but the team that has built it…that may also mean there’s a heavy earn-out component, possibly. Would be interesting to see if the site lasts as a standalone brand.

Recently, CBS also acquired Last.fm and video blog Wallstrip.
