New York woman sues Apple for $1 million

iphone.jpgA New York woman filed a lawsuit against Apple for bringing down the price of iPhone by $200. Dongmei Li of Queens, New York, is seeking $1 million in damages.

According to the lawsuit, Apple violated price discrimination laws when it slashed the price of the 8-gigabyte iPhone from $599 to $399 within two months after its debut. She also stressed that early buyers cannot resell the same product for profit because of the price cut.

Apple issued an apology after the price cut. Under its return policy, Apple refunded the $200 difference for those who bought the phone within 14 days of the reduction. And in a move to make peace with those who purchased the higher-priced phone before that period, the company offered a $100 credit at Apple stores.

Apple and T-Mobile announce exclusive partnership for iPhone in Germany

iphone1.jpgApple and T-Mobile announced that T-Mobile will be the exclusive German carrier of iPhone when it makes its debut in Germany on November 9.

In addition to all the revolutionary features that made iPhone so popular in the US, iPhone users in Germany will have access to Apple’s latest music offerings on iPhone including the recently launched iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. The iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store offers customers the ability to browse, search, preview, purchase and download songs and albums from iTunes over the built-in Wi-Fi on their iPhone. No computer is required and when the customer connects their iPhone back with the PC or Mac, their music automatically syncs back into their iTunes library.

iPhone iwill be sold in Germany through Telekom Shops of Deutsche Telekom and the T-Mobile web shop. iPhone requires a new 2-year T-Mobile tariff and will be available in an 8GB model for euro 399 including V.A.T.

As expected, Apple sells one millionth iPhone

iphone.jpgApple today announced it sold its one millionth iPhone yesterday, just 74 days after its introduction on June 29. iPhone combines three devices into one-a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod(R), and the best mobile Internet device ever-all based on Apple’s revolutionary multi-touch interface and pioneering software that allows users to control iPhone with just a tap, flick or pinch of their fingers.

“One million iPhones in 74 days-it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We can’t wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season.”

Early iPhone buyers get $100 Apple store credits

First, Apple launched a touch-screen wonder phone. Two months later, they dropped the price from $599 to $399 in time for the holidays. And now, about 24 hours later, they announce to give away $100 worth of store credit to early iPhone consumers who were, judging from the thousands of emails that came knocking at Apple’s inbox, upset of the sudden price drop.

“We need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price,” Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, said. “Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.”
