Om Malik lets us know that Skype 3.2 beta is out for Windows. While I have not given it a go since I’m on the Mac platform nowadays, it’s a pretty safe bet it is a good choice. Skype betas tend to be pretty stable and well worth to download, at least the last ones I’ve used.

The biggest news are the option to send money via PayPal in Skype, and importing contacts from web based services such as the major players in webmail.

As far as I know, April Fool’s didn’t get me yesterday, but that might or might not come as an unpleasant surprise later on, who knows. It did get 901am though, with Mike Arrington cheating by publishing his joke one day early. Not nice, not cool, not in the spirit of things if you ask me. Then again, it’s no biggie either so who cares. Apparently we also fell for the demo tape thing. How’s your back Duncan? ;)

Bloggers Blog have got a nice list of April Fool’s jokes this year, but as usual Wikipedia is the king of the hill so if you want to ruin a full work day by surfing nonsense that’s where you’ll want to go.

Google will be the main power source behind the new Vodafone Live portal set to launch this summer. This from Vodafone Analyst Day in the UK that GoMo News attended.

We expect that Vodafone live! will now resemble more of an Internet mobile portal with access to off-portal content on the home page. Access to mySpace, YouTube and eBay will be pushed on the front page. It wasn’t specifically mentioned but we believe that the flat rate will be to push new IM services.

Vodafone isn’t always a centralized company. Vodafone Germany already sports Google search options, but apparently they’re not available in the UK. We’ll likely see Google in Vodafone Live across Europe fairly soon. You don’t do a partnership like that without using it…

Bloggers Blog points to the Cigar Aficionado magazine, who have launched four blogs to further push their website. While I have not read the magazine, it looks like a lifestyle glossy product, covering not only cigars but also travel and golf. And sure, it probably fits in.

This move is of course a good one. If the blogs are maintained they will further strengthen the relationship with the editorial staff of the magazine and its readers.

The website, however, needs a total overhaul. You know where to find me!

It was just a matter of time, since it totally makes sense. The New York Times have the scoop.

The company plans to announce on Tuesday that it is creating a mobile advertising network that will allow marketers to place ads not only on its mobile services, but also on those of other online publishers. And Yahoo is offering tools to help publishers customize their content for easier use with its mobile search service.

Mobile internet and the monetization of it will be one of the big things this year. We’ll see Yahoo and Google battling it out with various ad solutions, but also startups trying to carve a niche. Prepare for lots of big deals and people getting rich in the mobile segment this year.
