Vimeo introduces High Definition Video Sharing

vimeo.pngVimeo announced the introduction of High-Definition, making it the first site to enable HD video sharing. This Vimeo breakthrough allows content creators at every level of sophistication to share their videos in native 720p (1280 x 720) resolution, which is 12 times better than the standard 320 x 240 resolution of other video sites.

Now that the price of HD camcorders has dropped below $1,000, more and more people are interested in HD. Vimeo’s HD platform utilizes the latest video technologies to deliver HD content in real time via broadband connection.

In addition to HD, Vimeo is introducing a variety of related services to improve the experience for its community, including Albums, which is a new way to organize videos on the site, and a redesigned video player to take full advantage of higher quality video.

Shutterfly launches Martha Stewart designed photo book and designer holiday cards

Shutterfly, Inc. announced a program with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. to create a photo book and a suite of holiday greeting cards designed by the Martha Stewart team for Shutterfly.

The “Our Family” photo book from Martha Stewart is divided into three chapters: Family and Friends, Memorable Days, and Traditions and Celebrations. Within these chapters, the book offers themes such as “Milestones,” “School Days,” “Favorites,” “Past and Present,” and “Our Favorite Homemade Recipes.” The book’s unique modular design can be used to create a variety of family keepsakes, including a record of holiday traditions, a family recipe book, a family history keepsake, or a year-in-review book. The Photo Book includes 31 fully customizable page layouts that can be combined into a book of up to 101 pages. It is available in two sizes, 8×8 or 12×12, and starts at $39.99 and $64.99, respectively.

In addition to the “Our Family” Photo Book, the Martha Stewart team has created a suite of offerings for the new line of Designer Cards to provide customers a stylish and sophisticated card choice this holiday season. These new flat 5×7 cards are printed on one-side of heavy card stock paper noted for its smooth, even finish. As a final touch, the cards come with elegantly lined envelopes. Prices start at $2.69 per card for a set of 12 and discounts are available for higher quantities.

YuMe secures $9 million funding

yume.pngYuMe, an advertising network created and optimized for broadband video, announced that it has secured $9 million in venture funding. The current round, the company’s second, includes follow-on investments by Khosla Ventures, Accel Partners and BV Capital, as well as new participation from DAG Ventures.

“As marketers spend unprecedented and ever-increasing amounts on online video advertising, they rightly expect to be able to leverage the full potential of the Internet for ad targeting, flexibility, and customization, rather than settling for run-of-site buys and one-size-fits-all formats,” said Jayant Kadambi, CEO of YuMe.

Yahoo, WebMD sign exclusive search and advertising agreement

webmd.pngYahoo! and WebMD announced the forging of an exclusive, multi-year search and advertising distribution agreements. Under the new agreements, Yahoo! will power sponsored search across the WebMD network of consumer sites, including WebMD Health, MedicineNet, eMedicine Health and RxList. In addition, WebMD will extend its advertising reach to include WebMD users across Yahoo! properties and services. WebMD will be the only significant online health publisher to represent Yahoo!’s advertising inventory.

With online advertising spending in the health and pharmaceuticals category expected to top $1 billion next year, this agreement provides both Yahoo! and WebMD with additional reach and targeting that will benefit advertisers and consumers alike. Yahoo!’s robust ad platform coupled with effective targeting capabilities will enable advertisers to reach an even larger engaged audience and consumers will receive more relevant and timely health-related marketing messages. Additionally, should WebMD choose to make its inventory available to a third party advertising network, Yahoo! will have the opportunity to extend its advanced advertising products across the WebMD network of consumer sites on competitive terms.

TV Guide announces nominees for Online Video Awards

The Online Video Awards are intended to recognize the best and most innovative professional video programming being created for the web. Many of the major broadcast and cable networks are represented among the nominees along with other entertainment sites including FunnyOrDie.com, SuperDeluxe.com and YouTube.com.
