people.pngPeopleEnEspanol.com, the official website of People en Español magazine, unveiled its fresh new look featuring original content in Spanish and English. The site, first launched in 2003, has become the premier destination for Hispanics seeking the hottest celebrity news and photos. The site will now have new features including: channels for news, movies, music, TV, video, photos and style; entertainment and fashion blogs and more.

With the latest enhancements on PeopleEnEspanol.com, the website broadens its audience reach to include movie, TV and music channels where users can check out reviews of the latest films, DVDs, albums and telenovelas, along with exclusive celebrity interviews. The site will also partner with movie studios and television networks to feature exclusive trailers and behind-the-scenes interviews from upcoming films and TV programs. And all news stories on the website will now appear in Spanish and English. With just a click of a button, users can determine their language of choice to read about the hottest celebrity scoops.

Building on one of PeopleEnEspanol.com’s most popular sections, the photo channel will now feature more celebrity photo galleries and will also include video clips. To get caught up on the most popular scoops of the day, users can click through a live-time ranking of the top five most-read stories of each day.

YouMail raises $4.5 million in funding from VantagePoint Venture Partners

youmail1.pngYouMail, Inc. has raised $4.5 million in series A funding from VantagePoint Venture Partners. Additionally, Craig Cooper, venture partner at VantagePoint, will join the YouMail Board of Directors. YouMail will use the proceeds to invest in further product development and marketing initiatives, and expand its management and development teams.

YouMail provides consumers with a free cell phone voicemail service. YouMail users can also access their cell phone voicemail over the web or in their e-mail, easily share special voicemails, and save them for life.

TurnHere announces online video distribution deal with Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau

turnhere.pngTurnHere, Inc. announced a deal with the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) to distribute GoHawaii videos across the Internet. The videos showcase stories about people who live in Hawaii, and through broad distribution will introduce Hawaii visitors to the unique diversity of activities and culture that awaits them on the islands.

TurnHere has built a YouTube channel for seven GoHawaii videos, a GoHawaii travel blog and is loading the videos into all the major search engines. TurnHere will also be announcing other distribution agreements with travel destination sites in the near future. HVCB looked to TurnHere’s solution to help extend its brand across the Web and expand its audience by tapping into popular video and travel sites. TurnHere’s distribution model also allows HVCB to showcase videos without using traditional ad models, enabling them to engage customers with compelling content early in the decision making process.

Elvis reclaims top spot on Forbes.com ranking of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities

elvis.jpgElvis Presley reclaimed the top spot on Forbes.com’s seventh annual ranking of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities.

Elvis (who earned $49 million from October 2006 – October 2007) and the other 12 icons on the list grossed a combined $232 million in the past 12 months. Newcomers to the list this year include Steve McQueen ($6 million) and James Brown ($5 million).

The seventh annual ranking of “Top-Earning Dead Celebrities” assesses the earning power of deceased celebrities, including musicians, actors, authors, songwriters and composers, among others.

The top 5 on this year’s list (earnings in millions):

1. Elvis Presley ($49)
2. John Lennon ($44)
3. Charles M. Schulz ($35)
4. George Harrison ($22)
5. Albert Einstein ($18)

Kurt Cobain, who debuted in first place on the list in 2006, was one of four who fell off this year’s list, joining Ray Charles, J.R.R. Tolkien and Johnny Cash. Tupac Shakur ($9 million) is back on the list, as is James Dean ($3.5 million).

ADrive.com enhances free 50gb online storage with public file sharing feature

adrive.pngADrive.com, an online data storage and backup company, introduced its new public file sharing feature today. ADrive users are now able to share any of their files in their ADrive account instantly with friends, family, anyone they choose, while keeping their unshared files private.

ADrive users can choose to share their file after the upload process by clicking on the ‘share’ button. This generates a unique URL that the user can then share with anyone they choose. The recipients of these shared files may click on the URL link to view or download the file. At anytime, ADrive users can unshare their shared files by clicking on the ‘unshare’ button, making the file private once again. All files not being shared are protected from the public’s view.

This new file sharing feature allows ADrive users to link and share their ADrive files from web pages, blogs, and social-networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Friendster.

This new feature is convenient for sharing large files such as videos, photos, music, and documents that exceed the limit to be emailed. This file sharing feature will save users time, help avoid any unwanted email bounce-backs, and make their files accessible to those they choose at any time.
