SyncLive.com gives unsigned music acts shot at showcase

SyncLive.com, a free online live music community, announced a series of events where unsigned musicians can showcase their talents to music industry professionals. The first live event in this groundbreaking SyncLive.com series will take place on Wednesday, February 27, beginning at 9 PM EST. Each artist will get immediate feedback from the music industry panel through the site’s live chat feature, along with detailed critiques via email. Panel members include Eric “Vietnam” Sadler, a producer who has worked with artists as diverse as Public Enemy, Ice Cube, LL Cool J, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, The Neville Brothers, Philip Glass, Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson and Ziggy Marley; Joey Elwood, CEO of Gotee records, whose acts include Relient K, Out of Eden and Family Force Five; plus Judd White, tour manager for such artists as Creed, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Eminem and Janet Jackson.

SyncLive.com is a web-based music community that allows artists to stream their shows live to thousands of members for free from any location, including the concert hall, club, studio or living room, by using a simple computer interface.

Zappos.com selects Kiva Mobile Fulfillment System

Kiva Systems announced that online retailer Zappos.com intends to install a Kiva Mobile Fulfillment System at one of the company’s distribution centers. Zappos plans to use Kiva’s ItemFetch split-case picking system and OrderFetch shipping sorter at its Shepherdsville, Ky. facility to store, move and sort a variety of products, including shoes, apparel and accessories.

Kiva believes that for Internet retailers, the distribution center is the store, and the Kiva Mobile Fulfillment System is a strategic advantage that transforms the distribution center into a truly optimized, competitive asset. The Kiva approach is ideal for eCommerce fulfillment, allowing orders to flow directly from the Internet to the factory floor. Since Kiva’s workflow eliminates the need for batch or wave processes, the faster order cycle time enables customers to place orders late at night and receive their merchandise the next morning. eBay appoints new CEOs for Skype and Shopping.com

ebay.jpgeBay Inc. has named Josh Silverman the Chief Executive Officer of Skype. Silverman, currently CEO of Shopping.com, an eBay company, brings more than nine years of experience in running hyper-growth global consumer Internet companies. Silverman will join Skype on March 24, 2008 and report directly to John Donahoe, President and CEO-elect of eBay Inc. Michael van Swaaij, who was appointed interim CEO in October 2007, will stay actively involved with Skype. Before joining eBay in 2003, Silverman was co-founder and CEO of Evite, the leading social event planning web site.

Succeeding Silverman as Shopping.com CEO is another eBay veteran, Andre Haddad. Haddad joined the company in 2001, when eBay acquired iBazar, a leading European online marketplace he co-founded and successfully ran in Paris.

Chinese search engine censured– AP

The Associated Press reports that a Chinese government-sponsored watchdog has censured Baidu.com for allegedly helping spread sexually explicit photos that appear to feature several Hong Kong stars. The photos, which appear to show actor Edison Chen and several female stars performing sex acts or in sexually suggestive poses, are believed to have originated in Hong Kong.
