Dailymotion announced the availability of an iPhone-compatible version of the site. The new portal features a simplified graphic user interface as well as Quicktime-compatible encoding, both facilitating the viewing of Dailymotion directly through the device’s Safari web browser.

The new site retains popular Dailymotion functionality including easy access to featured and top-rated content as well as to Dailymotion channels, recently-added videos and contributions from the MotionMaker program that identifies and rewards outstanding contributors to the Dailymotion creative community. Users may also perform keyword searches for the site’s original and licensed entertainment. Results appear as thumbnail images, each featuring a Play icon that can be tapped on the iPhone’s touch screen to launch the video in full-screen view.
“Dailymotion is committed to providing the best entertainment experience possible,” said ailymotion Co-founder and CTO Olivier Poitrey. “The launch of the iPhone portal is both a continuance and a reinforcement of our goal to bring our superior video content and viewing technology to new devices and broader audiences.”
