NBCSports.com, NBCOlympics.com and MediaZone to stream key marathon events from New York

nbcsports.pngNBCSports.com and NBCOlympics.com, in conjunction with online sports broadcaster MediaZone, will provide live online coverage of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Men’s Marathon from New York City on Saturday, November 3 and the 2007 ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 4. All the latest marathon action can be accessed at NBCSports.com/marathon and NBCOlympics.com.

The action kicks off on Saturday as the top American male athletes compete for the chance to represent the U.S. in Beijing next summer with live streaming coverage of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Men’s Marathon. The race is set to begin at Rockefeller Center and will be streamed in its entirety for free via the Web. The start of the race will be broadcast live nationally on NBC’s “The Today Show” at 7:35 a.m. ET. This marks the first time ever that an Olympic Trials event is available live online.

On Marathon Sunday, the world will then watch as some of the world’s legendary distance runners compete for over $2 million in prize money at the 38th running of the ING New York City Marathon. As a special highlight, the female winner of the inaugural World Marathon Majors crown and the chance to win an additional $500,000 prize will also be decided in New York. The online broadcast will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET, and is set to include live chat features, commentary when watching On Demand and a three-hour world feed.

The Nielsen Company and Google establish strategic relationship

nielsen.pngThe Nielsen Company and Google announced that the companies have established a multi-year, strategic relationship. As a first step, the relationship leverages Nielsen’s experience in television audience measurement to bring demographic data to the Google TV Ads advertising platform. By combining Nielsen demographic data with aggregated set-top box data, Google can provide advertisers and agencies with comprehensive information to help them create better ads for viewers and maximize the return on their advertising spending.

Google TV Ads is an online platform for buying, selling, measuring and delivering television ads. The platform, which has been operational since May, includes advertising inventory across hundreds of channels and all dayparts. A key benefit of Google TV Ads is the ability to report second-by-second set-top box data so advertisers can evaluate the reach of an ad and only pay for actual set-top box impressions. Advertisers can better understand exactly how their ad is performing and make near real time changes to their TV advertising campaigns to deliver better ads to viewers. Data derived from Nielsen’s representative television ratings panels will provide Google TV Ads advertisers with the demographic composition of the audience.

Google and Nielsen will also explore a number of other opportunities to work together to measure online and other media. Additional details of the agreement were not disclosed.

The service, which is available to pet families in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 1-866-654-4732 or by logging onto Petfinder.com, will allow the thousands of evacuated families to address their immediate needs and still ensure their pets are cared for. Volunteers interested in fostering a pet affected by the California wildfires can register via the website.

Additionally, people from all over the country can make a tax-deductible donation to help California families with pets affected by the wildfires.
