SharedBook unveils enhanced book personalization website Inscribe-It.com

Custom publishing enabler SharedBook Inc. announced the launch of a newly enhanced book personalization web site Inscribe-It.com.

Inscribe-It.com expands SharedBook’s offerings by giving consumers even greater ways to customize and personalize books with new features and options for the text on the dedication page, such as left and center justification, color and size. Additionally, Inscribe-It.com offers an improved flipbook for viewing all customized elements.

SharedBook has added more than 100 books to the website, across children’s and adult categories, including titles from Random House, HarperCollins, Penguin USA, DK Publishing, Bloomsbury, Sterling, F&W, Perseus, among others.

Pelago launches Whrrl v2.0 on Apple App Store, enabling people to capture and share stories

whrrlPelago announced the release of Whrrl v2.0, an application for iPhone and iPod touch that enables people to capture and share the moments of their lives, as they happen, in story form. Through location, photos and text updates, users can easily turn everyday life experiences into lasting stories that can be remembered, organized and shared. Each user controls exactly who can view their story, ranging from public to private, and includes the option to broadcast status updates on Facebook and Twitter.

Whrrl v2.0 stories are collaborative: two or more people who are physically together can “join” and contribute to the same story from their own iPhone or iPod touch, allowing a single experience to be expressed from multiple points of view. In addition, each story has its own unique URL that can be easily shared. After the real-world experience ends, the story may be edited by the participants via the Whrrl website and shared with others through Facebook, Twitter and email.

Whrrl v2.0 is now available for free from Apple’s App Store.

Platform-A expands strategic partnership with Scottrade

AOL’s Platform-A announced a strategic partnership with Scottrade, a branch-supported online investment firm that offers a full line of investment products, online trading services and market research tools to help investors take control of their financial future. This year’s partnership extends Scottrade’s Platform-A relationship to reach consumers via advertising and distribution solutions within MediaGlow’s financial-related content properties, such as AOL Money & Finance, Walletpop.com, Bloggingstocks.com, and AOL News. As part of the deal, Scottrade has also been included as a Featured Broker on AOL Money & Finance.

Scottrade is targeting media on leading sites within MediaGlow, AOL’s recently formed publishing business that lets marketers leverage branding opportunities across more than 70 high-quality publishing assets. In 2009, MediaGlow is expected to increase its offerings with the creation of more than 30 editorially curated sites. MediaGlow joins Platform-A, the industry’s largest domestic digital advertising platform, and People Networks, the company’s social media unit, as the third core business for AOL, signaling the completion of the company’s transformation to an advertising-supported business.

DriverSide.com secures $5.3 million funding for helping car owners

driversideDriverSide has secured $5.3 million led by new investor Allegis Capital with participation from original investor Catamount Ventures and the company’s founders. The funding will be used towards investment in revenue-generating partnerships with automotive services companies looking to reach car owners, and to accelerate DriverSide’s product development. The new round of funding brings DriverSide’s total venture capital funding to $8.4 million.

DriverSide also announced a partnership with Integrated Services (ISI) the maker of LubeSoft . DriverSide will build online “garages” for ISI’s operator customers, helping them provide an end-to-end ownership experience for their consumers. ISI operates in over 2,500 locations around the US.

DriverSide’s partnership with ISI is designed to help fast lube operators optimize relationships with their customers. Once created, the garage is automatically updated with vehicle service histories and is fully customized to the needs of the consumer and his or her vehicle. Automatic email reminders about servicing, recalls, parts and other ownership needs, keep consumers engaged and informed about extending the life of their vehicles.
