QVC.com has expanded its popular online community into a full social network platform powered by LiveWorld.
QVC’s expanded social network is based on LiveWorld’s latest Community Center platform including LiveWorld’s moderation tools and data warehouse reporting. QVC is utilizing LiveWorld’s API & Portlets technology to directly integrate community content throughout the main QVC site.

The HealthCentral Network launched a comprehensive site redesign that enhances the company’s offerings of in-depth medical information and large patient-to-patient support networks. The company has redesigned its sites to provide easier-to-use and more relevant information to people dealing with life-changing conditions.

Tremor Media has closed a Series B round of funding of $11 million. The round was led by Canaan Partners and Masthead Venture Partners, both of which led Tremor’s prior round of funding. This financing raises the total investment in the company to $19.4 million, including the previous round of $8.64 million that closed in September of 2006.
Tremor Media will use the funds to accelerate strategic growth plans, continue to extend its leadership position in online video advertising, expand its product offering to advertisers and publishers with new video ad formats and publisher tools, and enhance the flexibility of its technology platform to quickly respond to trends in the online video ad industry.

Netvibes announced that it has partnered with Sohu and Maxthon to expand its Universal Widget platform across Asia.
Netvibes Universal Widget API (UWA) enables developers to quickly build universal widgets in just a few lines of code. Netvibes universal widgets are cross-compatible with the web’s leading widget platforms from Apple, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. The widgets are automatically distributed across the Netvibes Ecosystem– the web’s largest network of universal widgets, featuring official partner content from the world’s leading media companies, such as CBS Interactive, CNET China Group, Die Welt, Le Figaro, New York Times and USA Today.
Sohu is the foremost network of leading web properties and portals in China and represents one of the biggest developer communities in the world. In a joint effort to increase the safety of teens online, MySpace and Attorneys General in the Multi-State Working Group on Social Networking representing 49 states and the District of Columbia unveiled guidelines on online safety tools, technology, education and law enforcement cooperation based on the Principles of Social Networking.
The Attorneys General praised MySpace for its efforts to date, the progress it has made in improving online safety and its continued efforts to make specific improvements over the coming months. The joint effort recognizes that an ongoing industry effort is required to keep up with the latest technological developments and to find additional ways to protect teens. The Attorneys General called on other social networking sites and Internet providers with community features to adopt the guidelines and bring their sites up to par with MySpace in terms of safety.
“We thank the Attorneys General for a thoughtful and constructive conversation on Internet safety. This is an industry-wide challenge and we must all work together to create a safer Internet.
