First Light Net acquires Fishing.org domain name

First Light Net has acquired the domain name Fishing.org.

“This is a fundamental domain acquisition,” said Michael Hodgdon, First Light Net’s Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. “Our focus is to connect outdoor retailers and manufacturers to targeted customers online. The addition of Fishing.org to our network of over 350 fishing, hunting, and outdoors websites will be another big step in connecting anglers to the products and services they are looking for.”

First Light Net will develop the Fishing.org website and accompanying brand to provide an engaging online community and targeted advertising to end users. Hodgdon says, “Fishing.org was targeted for acquisition due to its natural appeal to search engines and strong branding potential.”

First Light Net offers free information, free promotional giveaways, forums and social network sites to outdoor enthusiasts and monetizes this web traffic by offering clients targeted online advertising.

Boston Interactive launches redesigned site on autism

Boston Interactive has launched the new website for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. The Flutie Foundation is an organization dedicated to promoting awareness and supporting families affected by autism spectrum disorders.

The Flutie Foundation partnered with Boston Interactive to redesign their site in order to facilitate online donations and membership activities while promoting the Foundation’s purpose and improving the user experience. The Foundation required a fresh, redesigned image while maintaining a credible grassroots feel. By highlighting the foundation’s mission and resources, the site engages the visitors and drives them to action by signing up, donating, attending an event, or spreading awareness of autism and its impact on families.

The new site brings together customized information for families, fans, and sponsors into a single-facing website. Each content area works to provide resources and stories that create a unified vision of the Flutie Foundation and their mission to lend a helping hand to families in need.

TripAdvisor acquires Holiday Watchdog

TripAdvisor, LLC has acquired Holiday Watchdog, one of the most well-known user-generated travel sites in the U.K. Holiday Watchdog will continue to be operated as an independent site. Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

Holiday Watchdog will be operated out of TripAdvisor’s London office and there are no near-term plans for integration of content with other TripAdvisor Media Network sites. Its founders will work through a transition period but have chosen not to stay with TripAdvisor long-term.
