RIM to release Blackberry 10 Prototype in May Event

Research in Motion is working overtime to try and regain the ground it lost over the last few months with many corporate clients jumping ship to other smartphones. The company has announced that it will be releasing the newest version of their OS, Blackberry 10. NYC Taxis in Square Mobile Payment System Pilot Program

The Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) of New York City has given the go-ahead for Square Mobile Payment system to conduct a pilot program.

The approved pilot program will involve 30 NYC taxicabs (the city has a total of 13,237 taxis) and will run for one whole year. The taxis under the program will be installed with iPads in the backseat, replacing the Creative Mobile and Verifone Taxi TVs. Aside from the iPad, the drivers will also access an iPhone that is installed within their easy reach. The iPhone will help in processing credit cards, looking at traffic data and other types of information. [Read more…]

Microsoft Working On a New Music Streaming Service?

There are indications that Microsoft is preparing to launch a new music service/application that will be similar to what Spotify, Pandora, MOG or Rdio offers. Microsoft is reportedly talking with different record labels about developing the said app/service.

Experts say that Microsoft’s plan is to release the service as part of the applications or services associated with the Xbox 360. It does not intend to use its Zune brand name because it did not gain traction with consumers. [Read more…]
