The Android Market recently reached a historic milestone as it recorded about 10 billion apps downloaded since it was opened. Google announced that to commemorate this record number of downloads it has partnered with a number of Android app developers to offer a number of apps at very reasonable prices, an understatement given that these apps will be made available for only 10 cents. This offer will be made available to Android users for 10 days.
The Android mobile operating system was introduced in 2008, taking the Android Market three years to reach the fabled 10 billion download level. But the growth is made more significant if past figures are cited. For example, it took Android 21 months to reach a billion downloads, an indication of a slow start for the popular mobile operating system. But because of the great popularity of Android phones and rising sales of these phones only meant that there’s no other way but up for Android. The record six billionth download actually happened just last July, which means that 4 billion apps were downloaded in the last four months.
The Android Market was completely reworked a few months ago. The changes now made it easier for users to look for the apps they want and download them.
Among the apps that you should look forward to during the ten day sale are apps like Swiftkey X, Fieldrunners HD, Minecraft, Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro, Paper Camera and Soundhound Infinity just to name a few.
