One app that Android users have always wished they had on their preferred mobile operating system is Instagram. The very popular photo taking app has been a longtime player in the iOS environment. Android users have always requested that the app be ported to Android. But even if a port has been hinted at, it never really materialized.
Until today, that is.
Instagram for Android is now officially out and can be downloaded at the Google Play Store. The entry of Instagram into the Android environment has significantly boosted its base. It already has 30 million registered users and with its availability on Android, which already has about 500 million activations, one can expect to see its customer base rise very significantly.
The delay in the porting of Instagram to Android has been attributed to the Instagram team’s alleged meticulousness in translating the app to another environment. One of the goals was to ensure that the flawless and trouble-free experience that iOS users experienced will be felt by Android users as well.
The popularity of Instagram looks like it’s not going to wane anytime soon. Instagram is in a position to truly take the bull by the horns and allow it to grow and become a real player in the social media game. Expect to see Instagram in Windows Phone very soon.
