As a designer I certainly don’t approve on putting dozens of social bookmarking and sharing icons at the bottom of each page, because just as badges and ye olde 88×31 pixel buttons it looks bad. Also, I question the actual benefit of the icons, but that’s a whole different matter.
WordPress personality Alex King agrees, and therefore he has launched the Share Icon Project, with a universal icon for social sharing. I think I like it, although it feels like I’ve seen it before.
Right now I’ve got my initial icon concept up there since that is the one that got the most support here. This isn’t to say that this design is the final decision, I’ll be quite happy if additional concepts are submitted for consideration.
What do you think? Contribute if you can, I think this is a great idea. Check out the Share Icon Project page.

It probably looks familiar since it is similar to the Download.com icon, turned on its side.

The concept is great, but the implementation is awful.
The logo is simply ugly.

I do not even know the way I ended up here, however I thought this publish was once great. I do not recognize who you are but certainly you’re going to a well-known blogger when you are not already ;) Cheers!
