Today at WWDC, Apple unveiled slew of new products and features ranging from iCloud to Twitter integration (which explains why Twitter was eager to partner with Photobucket for image hosting).
While Apple did reveal that it boasted over 425,000 iOS apps, the mobile giant also disclosed how many of those were designed to work with the iPad.
“The size and momentum in the App Store is hard to fathom.” 90,000 apps specifically for the iPad. “We’d like to thank our developers for these great apps. (Engadget)
Last month Google revealed that Android Market boasted over 200,000 apps, a feat which took the search engine company 932 days to achieve.
Contrast that to the iPad which was released to the public on April 3rd of 2010, and has been able to amass 90,000 plus apps in the past 430 days!
While this could simply be the momentum from iOS developers making their iPhone apps “iPad friendly,” it’s still puzzling why the total Android Market is barely out pacing iPad apps (considering the former lacks an app tribunal).
Hopefully Google will be able to get their game in gear, as the last thing the search company needs is Steve Jobs reacting to Android with a dismissive attitude instead out of pure fear.
